Marko Jouste joins the Yoik Archive Project Team

As of today Marko Jouste joins the Yoik Archive Project team. MA Marko Jouste is a Finnish ethnomusicologist, graduated from the University of Tampere in 1998. Since 1999 he has worked mainly on research of the musical traditions of Sámi people and has published a vast variety of articles in scientifical publications. Jouste is finnishing his dissertation on the historical Sámi musical traditions of the Aanar-district in Finland. With start today, 1 February 2006, Jouste is working in the Yoik Archive Project.

Jouste has also graduated from The Conservatory of Tampere as a classical guitar teacher. As a musician Jouste has also had a special interest on indigenous musical cultures. From 1994 he has been learning classical Turkish music and Turkish ud-lute. He has also been active in the Scandinavian World Music scene as a lutist, singer and composer. He has recorded two CD:s with the group called Vilddas.
