The main purpose of the Yoik Archive Project is to ensure that recordings of yoik, the traditional way of singing of the Sami people, will be preserved for future generations.

The project runs from the 1 August 2005 until 31 December 2007 and will guarantee the preservation of the recording for the future, and make them available through an user-friendly database. The project will also work for the establishment of a permanent yoik archive.
